Unplug and reconnect.
Amazing how the message seems to resonate…or maybe not so amazing….
I imagine that back in the day, some cave mom told her intense, wall-painting son to get out and hunt a mammoth or two and reconnect with what is real…and I have no doubt that advice made him a better painter…I am ready to bet it is his work we now admire and study….
Interestingly…importantly…that same message has been reverberating in our day, at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity – as the best of the best creative minds in our world spent a week studying, judging and awarding the best of the best creative ideas, executions, products and designs from around the world.
What was clear – to me, at least, and I do believe to all of the juries – was that in our world, the Age of Digibabble is over and once again ideas, stories, emotional connections and authenticity rule – technology is an enabler…without content, tech is lifeless.
Bono – who was awarded the Cannes LionHeart Award (first ever) for his amazing philanthropic work in Africa, (RED) – was clear in his bid for more brands to become associated with fighting AIDS. He exhorted us all for ideas…marketing ideas…things to sell…stuff to connect with…he was clearly not looking for clicks and likes…he demanded ideas that lead to money and the support of real people…Click and Shout….

Digital is everything…but not everything is digital…same thought….
Unplug…reconnect…your creativity will flourish and you might just change the world….
