Dichotomy. Think on this…
On one hand, the world gets smaller. But segmentation (on the positive side) and what divides us (on the negative side) seem to get bigger. We talk about the Web as the ultimate personalization engine. We blast Spam, a huge business, with millions of messages flowing out in imitation of the broadest TV coverage ever broadcast.
We use Interactive to denote a specific channel—as if nothing was ever interactive before. Yet, we use that channel much like we have used every other one. We use it as a general broadcast medium defaulted to Brand Building measurements as opposed to sales.
Bottom line: Dichotomy…….
