World Economic Forum — Davos

Are we nothing more than tagged wolves set loose in the wild whose behavior is tracked and recorded…in order to what?

  • One of the crtiques of the forum I found interesting was that they should be able to predict crisis -- as in why didnt they know about the economic meltdown -- good question given the financial heavies who attend -- but clearly as individuals they didnt have a clue -- making it clear that we should never give our world ...
  • David you get to go to wonderful conferences. Lucky you! Don't be surprised if your luggage is a little extra heavy when you travel to your next conference (I'll be stuffed inside).

  • There's a lot of food for thought here: whether we value our deeper relationships as much and whether technology improves that connection; the importance of our interpretation and inventiveness with the means provided by technology to communicate; the role of virtual society in self-definition and personal growth. And not least, the invasion of SMS shortcuts in our written self-expression! Social ...
  • I find that technology has enabled much more connection than in the past. It has deepened my close relationships and prevented many casual relationships from evaporating. Let's face it, many of our relationships are fairly shallow to begin with. So, any supplemental or incremental interaction helps to deepen them. And yes, I'm happy.

  • Very interesting indeed. I immediately went to how this works for silicone and there are some good lessons in here. Customers want what they want now—who cares what you might do in a a year because it'll be a fairytale in 3 months. Deliver the magic today don't promise the dream tomorrow.

  • I think autoshow attendees are self selecting towards power/size/high end. There are plenty of economy/hybrid enthuiastist out there, but they are marketed to differently. Google for hyper milers and you will see. The Tesla is a product in search of a market. Hybrids are practical and cost effecctive in certain use cases, namely people that commute a lot.
